Hurt in the Dirt Special Offer!!

Procrastination pays – at least this week it does.
Our friends at the GOAL Foundation have offered a last-minute discount for those who’d still like to challenge themselves in the Hurt In The Dirt Aug. 25th.
The event includes the 10-ish Hurt in the Dirt (off-road duathlon), the skirt in the dirt (5K or 10K for women only) and Nighttime trail run (10K-ish). The event begins in the morning with the Hurt in the Dirt at Ogden’s Fort Buenaventura. There is a festival, food and more fun than you can stand all day and night.
Organizers have offered a special discount for us procrastinators, so come join us for some filthy fun!
Register at, then scroll to the section that says’enter promotional code’ and then use code ’10bucksoff’. It is all one word and all lowercase.
Staff writer and photographer Brian Nicholson will be participating in Hurt in the Dirt, and will chronicle his adventure in a column. I plan the ultimate challenge for an aging jogger – the Nighttime Trail Run, which starts at 9 p.m. The last time I attempted a trail run at night was in Ogden and it was amazing. If you come, don’t forget a headlamp!
Here’s the website’s description of that adventure:
Run, walk or crawl! This is a nighttime event that will put your inner adventurous self to the test!
The course runs through trees, over obstacles, through water, sand, dirt and mud. Combine that with dark and headlamps….you’ve got yourself a big serving of Awesome-ness!
This 10K – ish course is all off-road. The course will be clearly marked with directional glow sticks and possibly a little blood from the duathlon 🙂 KIDDING … about the glowsticks:-)
